Bye Bye Bladder Issues! | Gnet Health and Fitness

There is perhaps nothing more alarming than the sensation you are about to lose control of your bladder ? particularly if you?re in public! Well, other than actually losing control of your bladder in public ? a most unfortunate incident that I fear the word ?embarrassing? wouldn?t even begin to sum up! The sheer panic of feeling a sudden urge to go to the toilet is one that many of us will have experienced at some time, though for some unfortunates, incontinence is an issue that they struggle with daily. At best it represents a minor inconvenience, but at worst, it causes great emotional and psychological upset, even dictating your schedule and greatly affecting your quality of life!

Bring On The Muscle!

When we urinate, the bladder walls and ring like bands of muscles (sphincters) relax or contract ? stopping and starting the flow of urine. The detrusor muscle is responsible for controlling urine flow, so if it is weak then it will permit too much urine to flow, and this is what we refer to as urinary incontinence. Therefore keeping muscles toned and strong is key in maintaining optimal urinary and bladder health, particularly as we age and are more prone to weakening of the muscles.

?Flotrol Natural Bladder Support? is a product which apparently helps you gain control over an overactive bladder, asserting the following:

  1. All-natural bladder support formulated especially for mature adults.
  2. Suitable for men and women.
  3. Contains soy extract as well as pumpkin seed extracts.
  4. Ingredients shown to be safe and effective.

Pumpkins ? Not Only For Halloween!

Flotrol Natural Bladder Support reportedly promotes bladder and urinary tract health using all-natural ingredients that target and strengthen the detrusor muscle giving you better control of urine flow:

  1. Pumpkin Seed Extract:
contains a wide array of nutrients, offering essential fatty acids, selenium, magnesium and vitamin E. It assists with muscular contraction, to ensure correct function of the bladder. It helps reduce urethral and bladder pressure that cause urinary incontinence.

  2. Soy Protein Extract:
provides natural bladder support by embedding isoflavones which bring you phytoestrogen, aiding to sustain, tone and strengthen the muscle groups, optimizing bladder health.

Clinical studies have demonstrated that when taken in combination over a period of several weeks, these two ingredients can significantly improve bladder control issues, also helping the bladder to relax, thereby decreasing the urge to urinate soon after your last trip to the bathroom, as well as sudden urges in general!

Testimonials / Reviews?

There are numerous testimonials and reviews that certainly support Flotrol Natural Bladder Support as a natural way of regaining bladder control?

I Don?t Know How But It Works!

?It is pumpkin seeds. I don?t how it works on my system but it works? The suggested dose is 5 per day and then drop to 3 a day. I am doing that and have good results? YES I do recommend them.

It Helped Me So Much!

I have an overactive bladder and the prescription medicine that was prescribed had horrid side effects? I read that pumpkin seeds (the main ingredient of Flotrol) were studied and clinically tested in Japan and it had been effective in reducing the amount of bathroom trips and urgency. Before using this, I was going to the bathroom 2x/hr and now I go 1x/2-3 hrs. I started to notice the difference within the first month of using it, I still continue to use it because it?s helped me so much. I can?t say that it will be the same for everyone, but I definitely think it?s worth a shot.

? Monica ? Amazon customer who rated the product four star.

It Worked in Just Two Weeks!

Like many individuals leaving their Flotrol reviews, I suffered from incontinence (the inability to control my bladder) and found myself having to take unimaginable steps to make sure I did not embarrass myself in public. I tried everything to reverse the condition and until I found Flotrol, nothing seemed to help. However, after just two weeks, I realized I was no longer urinating uncontrollably, and had regained my control over my bladder.Because of some of the information provided by Flotrol online, I began taking better care of my health. They suggested that neither Flotrol, nor any dietary supplement will actually cure me of the condition, but only support and maintain a stronger and more healthy bladder.

Dosage?

You are recommended to take five tablets per day for the first two weeks, gradually reducing the dosage to one per day. Tablets should be taken with meals.

Regain Control!

Why would anyone want to go another day suffering the limitations and sheer humiliation that accompany bladder control issues? Affecting a great many of us as we age, though by know means limited to the elderly, a weak unpredictable bladder is an issue that stops us from living life to the fullest, provoking so much stress, worry and upset, though we needn?t necessarily have to struggle with it. With products that reportedly help promote bladder and urinary tract health, why not regain control of your flow, and with it control of your life once again!

Academic and Creative Writing Journal Vikram Karve: BE YOUR ...

Self-Esteem is much more than Self-Confidence.?

The word ?esteem? is derived from the Latin word?aestimare?which means ?to put a value on?.?

Thus, your ?Self Esteem? is the ?value you put on yourself?. Your self-esteem is your conviction that you are uniquely valuable. When you have high self-esteem you will have the capacity to live creatively, stand by your values, beliefs and principles, and you will have the competence to accomplish something vital to your individuality.

Is it possible to assess self-esteem??

How do you recognize whether a person has self-esteem. Persons with high self-esteem do not need to prove themselves. Yes, if you have high self-esteem you do not feel the need to prove yourself to the outside world ? you do not need to prove yourself to others.

Conversely?persons with low self-esteem will be observed trying to prove themselves?? they boast, put others down, show off, drop names, speak excessively and always talk about their themselves and try to hog the conversation, they keep telling you about their achievements and display snobbish behaviour.?

People with low self-esteem?are extremely?self-conscious about their appearanceand?desperately fish for compliments?and are?unduly concerned?about what other people think about them.?

They may talk in an imperative tone of voice, try to pull rank and emphasize their authority and show-off their status, position or wealth, act in a boastful manner, always seem ?keyed up? and move around in an excited manner as if in a perpetual hurry ?to get the job done? and try to ?dominate? others.?

Look around your workplace and among your friends.?

If you observe someone behaving in this way be sure that he or she has low self-esteem.

Close your eyes and recall some of your own interactions in the recent past, professional and social, at work and with your friends. Imagine as if you have gone outside your body and you are watching yourself from the outside as you interact and converse with others.?

Reflect and Introspect:?Did you display any indicators of low self-esteem??

Remember, an important internal indicator of low self-esteem is that you feel excessively self-conscious?as you try to "prove yourself" to others?around?you wondering what they think about you and this sometimes causes you to feel internally stressed-out.

You can recognize individuals with high self-esteem by their body language.?

When they speak to you they make?good eye contact?and they are relaxed, calm, measured in movement, yet firm and decisive.?

A person with good self-esteem?will exhibit a quiet confidence and?will not fish for compliments, but if you do compliment them they will say ?Thank You? and accept your compliment with politeness and humility.?

They are honest, humble and modest and are genuinely interested in other people and their achievements.?

They do not bother about external recognition as they have confidence in their own abilities. Persons with high self esteem are always genuine and never ?fake it?.

The bedrock of self-esteem is self-acceptance.?

If you have high self-esteem you will accept yourself as you are and you will not indulge in ?image management?.?

Hence you will never be afraid of being ?found out? since you will always project what you actually are since you don?t have to ?prove yourself? to others. ? People with?low self-esteem?who are always desperate to ?prove themselves? and impress others often fall prey to?image management?techniques and since they try to project an exaggerated or contrived (fake) image of themselves they always live under the fear of being found out.

Do you want to enhance your self-esteem??

It is simple.?

Just?start liking yourself.?

First accept yourself as you are and then learn to like yourself.?

Don?t bother about proving yourself to others.?

Take pride in your individuality.?

Be your own hero.?

Start enjoying yourself, be proud of yourself, and when you feel you have done something good, don?t seek praise from others but reward yourself for what you do and praise yourself.?

Remember to do this in all aspects of your life ? at work and in your personal life as well.

Continual self-evaluation, self-acceptance and self-reward will produce a paradigm shift in your behaviour from being other-directed to being inner-directed.?

As you build up your self-esteem you will develop a strong sense of self.?

You will start liking yourself and will start believing in yourself. If you do not learn to reinforce yourself and if you succumb to the temptations of image management to seek approval of others and get obsessed with ?proving yourself? you may fall into the downward spiral of low self-esteem.

I will end with a quote from Samuel Butler:

The advantage of doing one?s praising for oneself is that one can lay it on so thick and exactly in the right places.

Love Or Arranged- Marriage is Marriage : Parenting tips for Indian ...

?

Here at The Mom Views, I hardly ever talk about my personal life except for may be an occasional picture or two. But recently I have been itching to write on a topic which is as old as men & women themselves. Love Marriage Vs Arranged Marriage.?

This blog is all about Parenting and I reckon sometime in the future I might have to give some relationship advice to my daughter (since husband will never accept that his lil princess has grown up enough to have a relationship let alone a marriage). So I am taking this opportunity to record for posterity my thoughts on Love marriage, Arranged Marriage, Marriage and a Happy Marriage.

A Little Background

I met my husband when we both were in our teens ( no high school romance though) and now I have known him for almost 14 years which for most people is a lifetime. Ours was no fairy tale romance with electrifying chemistry or hot-headed promises of bringing the stars or moon. It was rather a friendship of stolen glances, quiet admiration and mutual trust which slowly developed into love (I am hesitant to use this word because it is used too callously nowadays).

Within a few months of knowing each other my husband went to a different state for his study of medicine and we started a hesitant, long distance relationship. In the age of smartphones, texting, Facebook likes and instant messaging, our relationship might look like a quaint and vintage love story. A story where the boy met the girl once in may be two months and talked on the phone once in a fortnight.

It took almost 4 years for us to realize that this was more than a strong liking to and a marriage to each other was inevitable. Yes, inevitable because we knew that we balanced and made each other happy in a way that no one else could. Although soul mates is an extremely loaded word, what we felt for each other can only be described like that.

The Long Way Ahead

Once we were sure that we wanted to get married it was now the turn for our families to agree. Oh, by the way did I mention that I happen to be a Keralite Catholic and my husband a Hindu Punjabi. Yeah, that!!

For a few years there was a lot of passive aggression shown by both sets of families, constant nagging (mainly our moms), strong silent spells (mostly our dads) and petty taunts (the relatives-but that is their job right!!). The one thing that we never faced was the ugly side of such relations. No one from his family was ever mean to me or vice-versa.

Eventually after 4 more years, it took my husband?s 86 year old grandmother to show the light to our families. She emphatically put her foot down and said that they have been together for too long to change their ways. Since we were pretty clear that our marriage had to be solemnized with the blessings of everyone and our parents had pretty much resigned to the fact that their children might remain unmarried for ever if they did not agree, our marriage was fixed.

The next few months were a blur. Understanding each other?s rituals and customs, getting the extended families on board with the marriage, finalizing the wedding plans and so on. Finally on a cold wintry and rainy day my husband and I got hitched to each other both in a church and by hindu customs (all in the same day). His relatives could not compliment enough the peaceful and beautiful service in the church and the delicious malayali food. My relatives from?Kerala?were over the moon having witnessed a true blue?Punjabi?wedding (?Just like the movies?). Everyone was happy and no one could have been euphoric than me and my husband to see every one rejoice in our happiness.

Down the Road

It has been almost six years of marriage and our relationship has had its share of ups and downs. From my struggle to fit into the family (I started speaking real?Punjabi?within one year of marriage), my inner turmoil of remaining true to my self, the birth of my beautiful daughter to the daily chaos of our lovely life-Life has been pretty much a?roller coaster and Wedded Bliss can certainly be used for our life.

Life may not have panned out exactly like we pictured, there were some unexpected twists and turns in our life which put a lot of pressure on us. There were times when I smiled, cried, screamed and laughed so hard that my ribs hurt. But what remained constant was our admiration of each other ( we are each other?s biggest cheer leaders) and the mutual trust.?

What I learnt about Marriage so far?

Marriage begins the day you are done with your wedding. There is only a LOVE WEDDING OR AN ARRANGED WEDDING. But Marriage? It is the same for everyone whether the couple has met each other ten years ago or ten days ago.?

Marriage is a work-in-progress. Even after knowing my husband for around 14 years, there are things about him that constantly surprise me ( some pleasantly, some not so much!) and I am sure it is the same with him. It really does not matter whether you have known a person for a long time because when you live with them, they WILL BE DIFFERENT. What matters is how accepting you are of them, how?accommodating?you are and how much of a sense of humor do you have. Trust me, sense of humor should be a prerequisite for marriage.?

Adjustment is good but Compromise is a no-no. When you adjust with each other it means that you give and take space to remain true to yourself while making sure the other person is not uncomfortable. But when you compromise then you change who you are, which is never good for anyone.

Marry for the right reasons. Do not marry some one because they are a habit or because you think you can change them. No one changes or for that matter should change for another person because then it is never sustainable. If a person changes from within, it should be self driven because that it is the only way it will remain permanent.

You should grow old with each other. Not just literally but figuratively too. Often one person remains the same through out their marriage while the other person keeps growing their personality, their life and their minds. After a few years they find that they are living with a stranger. Both partners should grow together. Communication, respect, friendship, freedom and love (again that word!) are the must haves for any relation to grow and maintain itself over a period of time.

I have nothing against arranged marriages, where families come together to join two people in holy matrimony, provided the couple is banking on more than just their families to keep the marriage working. Similarly love marriage is not evil as long as the two people involved know that chemistry is not everything because eventually you need the patience, maturity, ?the security of relationships and the experience of elders to keep the fire going. A love marriage which gets arranged (like ours did) is probably the best scenario but keep in mind that marriage is hard work whether you fall in love before the wedding or after.?

If you would like to read more opinions on this topic and may be some more real love stories then a good place to start is probably the facebook page of Sony Television?s new tv show-Love Marriage Ya Arranged Marriage. Trust me, everyone has an opinion on this!

If you have any marriage advice you would like to share with the readers or may be your kids in future

then don?t forget to comment below

Disclosure: I am entering this post on Indiblogger-Sony TV Love Marriage or Arranged Marriage contest. Every vote means a compliment from you guys, so don?t forget to vote on Indiblogger now.?

Hijacked Greek-run tanker traced to Nigerian waters

LOME (Reuters) - A Greek-operated oil tanker seized off Togo was tracked down on Wednesday off the coast of Nigeria under the control of pirates, the ship's operator and Togolese authorities said.

The seizure early on Tuesday of the ship, which is operated by Golden Energy Management, underscored the growing risks to shipping in the Gulf of Guinea, where piracy is rising but still not as common as off the coast of Somalia.

"The vessel is presently sailing off the coast of Nigeria under the control of pirates who have the intention to steal the cargo," Golden Energy Management said in a statement.

The firm said it was in touch with a French naval ship that was nearby and that the crew are believed to be in good health and unharmed.

Russia's Foreign Ministry said 23 Russian crew were aboard the tanker and added there was no immediate threat to their lives. It said the tanker was carrying some 50,000 metric tons of diesel and petrol fuel.

The Greek coast guard said earlier on Wednesday that 24 people were on board the tanker.

Colonel Inoussa Djibril, spokesman for the Togolese army chief of staff, confirmed the ship had been located in Nigerian waters with pirates on board.

According to the International Maritime Bureau's website, there have been eight attacks and attempted attacks off the coast of Togo since January.

FACT CHECK: Convention speakers stray from reality

FILE - In this April 13, 2012 file photo, Rick Santorum speaks in St. Louis. Santorum was one of Mitt Romney's toughest foes during the GOP presidential race, but the former Pennsylvania senator plans to help Romney appeal to the party's conservative base when he addresses the Republican National Convention. (AP Photo/Michael Conroy, File)

(AP) ? Sounding the keynote for his party's national convention, Chris Christie promised that GOP nominee Mitt Romney will lay out for the American people the painful budget cuts it'll take to wrestle the government's debt and deficit woes under control.

The combative New Jersey governor's hopeful words, however, flew into a headwind of reality: In nearly a year of campaigning, Romney has yet to detail how he would do that.

Former senator and presidential candidate Rick Santorum became the latest Republican to stretch the truth in taking President Barack Obama to task over his administration supposedly waiving work requirements in the nation's landmark welfare-to-work law.

A closer look at some of the words spoken at the GOP convention in Tampa, Fla.

CHRISTIE: "Mitt Romney will tell us the hard truths we need to hear to end the torrent of debt that is compromising our future and burying our economy...Tonight, our duty is to tell the American people the truth. Our problems are big and the solutions will not be painless. We all must share in the sacrifice. Any leader that tells us differently is simply not telling the truth."

THE FACTS: Romney has made a core promise to cut $500 billion per year from the federal budget by 2016 to bring spending below 20 percent of the U.S. economy, and to balance it entirely by 2020.

His campaign manifesto, however, is almost completely devoid of the "hard truths" Christie promises. In fact, Romney is promising to reverse $716 billion in Medicare savings achieved by Obama over the coming decade and promises big increases in military spending as well, along with extending tax cuts for everyone, including the wealthiest.

The few specifics Romney offers include repealing Obama's health care law, cutting federal payrolls, weaning Amtrak from subsidies, cutting foreign aid and curbing the Medicaid health care program for the poor and disabled.

But it'll take a lot more than those steps for Romney to keep his vague promises, which are unrealistic if he's unwilling to touch Medicare and Social Security in the coming decade. Even the controversial budget plan of his vice presidential nominee, Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., largely endorsed by Romney, leaves Medicare virtually untouched over the next 10 years.

What's left for Romney to cut is benefit programs other than Medicare and Social Security, which include food stamps, welfare, farm subsidies and retirement benefits for federal workers. The remaining pot of money includes the day-to-day budgets of domestic agencies, which have already borne cuts under last year's budget deal. There's also widespread congressional aversion to cutting most of what remains on the chopping block, which includes health research, NASA, transportation, air traffic control, homeland security, education, food inspection, housing and heating subsidies for the poor, food aid for pregnant women, the FBI, grants to local governments, national parks, and veterans' health care.

___

SANTORUM: "This summer (Obama) showed us once again he believes in government handouts and dependency by waiving the work requirement for welfare. Now, I helped write the welfare reform bill. We made a lot crystal clear. No president can waive the work requirement, but as with his refusal to enforce our immigration laws, President Obama rules like he is above the law."

THE FACTS: The administration did not waive the work requirement. Instead, it invited governors to apply on behalf of their states for waivers of administrative requirements in the 1996 law. Some states have complained those rules tie up caseworkers who could be helping clients directly.

In a July 18 letter to congressional leaders, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said that to be eligible for a waiver, governors must commit that their plans will move at least 20 percent more people from welfare to work. Moreover, states must show clear progress toward the goal within a year, or lose the waiver.

"We will not accept any changes that undercut employment-focused welfare reforms that were signed into law fifteen years ago," Sebelius wrote.

Ron Haskins, a former senior Republican House aide who helped write the welfare-to-work law, has said "there is merit" to the administration's proposal and "I don't see how you can get to the conclusion that the waiver provision undermines welfare reform and it eliminates the work requirement."

Haskins, now co-director of the Brookings Center on Children and Families, says the administration was wrong to roll out its proposal without first getting Republicans to sign off on it. But he said the idea itself is one both parties should be able to agree on, were it not for the bitter political divisions that rule Washington.

Sen. Marco Rubio Responds to Villaraigosa Comments, Talks ...

By Nicole Rojas | First Posted: Aug 29, 2012 11:24 AM EDT

(Photo : Reuters) Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) speaks at the Latino Coalition Annual Economic Summit at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington May 23, 2012.

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) appeared on "Good Morning America" on Wednesday to address comments made by Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, a Democrat, on Tuesday.

According to ABC News, Villaraigosa, chair of the Democratic National Convention, told reporters, "You can't just trot out a brown face or a Spanish surname and expect people are going to vote for your party or your candidate."

Like Us on Facebook

The comment referred to the Republican National Convention's plan to give prominent airtime to several Hispanic Republicans.

Rubio said he agreed with Villaraigosa but added that the issue was not solely a Republican one. "I think what he's saying, quite frankly, is true for both parties," Rubio said. "Policies matter and, look, the Republican Part does have a challenge. We can't just be the anti-illegal immigration party, we have to be the pro-legal immigration party."

Recent polls show Romney is failing to gain Hispanic support. According to ABC News, an Aug. 6-26 Gallup poll placed Obama in the lead among registered Hispanic voters with 61 percent over Romney's 29 percent.

Romney, who along with Obama will count on Hispanic votes in key swing states, has been seen by many as largely anti-immigrants. His opposition to Obama's Deferred Action plan for illegal immigrants who entered the U.S. fortifies this belief.

Rubio touched upon immigration on Wednesday and said, "We have a broken system of immigration that needs to be fixed and we have a legal immigration problem because we have millions of people who are in this country without documents and we have to deal with that in a way that honors our legacy both as a nation of compassion and a nation of immigrants but also as a nation of laws."

Rubio also said that he believed Romney would replace the Deferred Action plan if elected. "That's what I think you can expect from the Romney presidency and I think the obligation of some of us in the Congress is to find that permanent solution," Rubio said on the morning show. "It was something I was working on, that I continue to work on, an alternative to the DREAM Act that allows us to continue to deal with that issue but not in a way that's amnesty and not in a way that encourages illegal immigration in the future."

Rubio is just one of many Latino speakers planned for the Republican Convention. He is joined by New Mexico Gov. Susanna Martinez, Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval, Rep. Francisco Canseco of Texas, Texas Senate nominee Ted Cruz and Delaware candidate for lieutenant governor Sher Valenzuela.?

Droid Rage: Does Android Gaming Stack Up To The Console ...

Games belong on consoles and talking belongs on phones right? However, if technology has taught us anything it is that worlds can and often do collide. Yet that collision can be dynamic or destructive. With the Android operating system boasting a mighty presence on the mobile juggernaut Galaxy S3, the question is posed: does Android gaming (AG) stack up to the console and handheld experience?

Before the answer to that question, AG should be defined. Android gaming is essentially playing video games on an Android operating system. Android?s operating system, also known as Droid OS, comes in versions with the latest known as ?Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS.)?

Droid gaming on the S3 is surprisingly competitive with handheld gaming devices and even with consoles. On the Samsung?s hardware platform, three games which required extensive graphic support (Dead Trigger, Castles of Shadow and Six Guns) performed without stagger, delay, clipping (graphics moving through one another) or frame refresh issues.

There are major benefits to AG. Droid gaming on a mobile device offers flexibility and usability that consoles cannot produce and handhelds are struggling to attain. For example, on a family vacation or road trip, the phone could be handed back to children for gaming while mom and dad drive. While waiting for phone calls in a doctor?s office, one can play graphic heavy RPGs (Role Playing Games), first person shooters and more.

While there are few disadvantages to Android gaming, the two that stick out the most would be the hardware requirements and the library of games. The benefit of console gaming is that the Xbox 360 and PS3 have remained relatively unchanged for years. For this piece, the Samsung S3 was available and allowed for unexpectedly impressive gaming. However, on older phones with droid, gaming may be a much different experience. Secondly, the library of games is small when compared to the arsenals of titles available on consoles and handhelds. This is to be expected with new hardware and software ? they should catch up in time.

Recommendations for AG would include the following:

  • Dead Trigger
  • Six Guns
  • Angry Birds in Space
  • Castles of Shadow

The Samsung Galaxy S3 boasts some healthy architecture that benefits gaming. It has a 4.8 inch HD Super AMOLED 720 display for very crisp graphics. Theres 16 to 32 GB of storage, 1 GB of RAM and allows for expansion of up to 64 GB via amicroSD card. Finally, the quad-core processor design created real-time effects in gameplay.

Does Android gaming stand up? The answer is a surprising yes. The Android OS sitting on the right hardware platform will give hardcore players more than electric sheep to dream about.

For the purpose of this experiment and editorial, android gaming was tested on the Samsung Galaxy S3 on the T-Mobile network.

Back-To-School Breakdown | Woman This Month

Posted by wtm on 28 Aug 2012

As usual the summer has flown by, meaning that it?s now time to get the kids geared up for another year at school.

Back-to-school shopping is a headache; there?s no doubt about it. There are lots to buy, lots of options and lots of spending! This year, start your shopping spree with a game plan as Woman This Month reports on the best school supply destinations in town.

Look smart
Getting your kids? uniforms ready in time for the first day of school can be a hassle. Make sure to place your order in advance at House of Uniforms to give your kids some alteration time if needed.

For additional prim and proper school attire, such as shirts and blouses, Bhs, Debenhams, Marks & Spencer, Mothercare and Sportsland have an array to choose from. Keep your eye out for all the back-to-school promotions, where you can buy pants, socks and tights in bulk.

Get the right soles that will conform to school rules and regulation at Aldo, Shoe Mart, Nine West, Spring and Guess Kids. If your child needs extra comfort and support for their feet then Hush Puppies and Clarks have a great assortment of options.

Where to shop:
House of Uniforms (17 581-510); Aldo; Bhs; Debenhams; Guess Kids; Hush Puppies; Marks & Spencer; Mothercare; Nine West; Shoe Mart; Sportsland; Spring.

Don?t forget stationery
Stocking up all in one go saves you from the headache of frequent trips out for notebooks and pens. Buying stationery in bulk will also lessen your expenses especially with all the back to school sales promotions.

Make sure you have a drawer stacked with pens, pencils, markers, crayons, notebooks and everything your child might need during his/her school year. For great offers, go to any major supermarket like Megamart, Geant, Waitrose or Al Jazeera Supermarket.

To get all your shopping done under one roof, Virgin Megastore offers all around school supplies, from notebooks to backpacks. For school text books, Jashanmal Bookstore, The Bookcase and Family Bookshop are stacked with educational books catered to most schools? curriculum. Make sure to call in advance to check if they have the books your child needs.

Most kids these days, especially high-schoolers, use a laptop as a resourceful research tool. Home Electronics, Sharaf DG, Ashrafs, Gajria Electronics, Yaquby Stores and Emax offer some of the best brands available; or you can head to any big hypermarket for cheaper prices.

Rise and shine
A new school year can be stressful and it is vital that kids maintain a nutritious diet to stay focused and healthy. Give them a balanced meal of omelettes and yogurt or whole wheat cereals to help kick start their day.
For snacks, pack their lunch boxes with fruits, veggies and some light sweets. Pop over to your nearest supermarket and get your ingredients for the perfect breakfast by opting for wholegrain and organic substitutes. A great tip to get your child excited about the day is having them help you in the cooking or preparation process.

Where to shop:
Megamart (17 341-070); Al Jazeera Supermarket; Midway; Waitrose; Lulu Hypermarket.

Extra-curricular activities
Teach your child to balance work and play early in their lives by assorting a dedicated time for fun activities. Joining clubs or groups outside of school can help a student build up character and self-esteem by learning things that they otherwise wouldn?t.

Being a part of something outside of school can also help children explore their social skills and make new friends. Make sure that they are enjoying the activity by having them participate in something that they show interest in. If your child is a budding athlete, then a good tennis, football or basketball club would be a productive way to spend their free time. For the artsy child, have them join an arts and crafts class for kids.

Where to ?play?:
Awali Riding Club; Bahrain Music Institute; Bahrain Science Centre;Bahrain Tennis Club; Berlitz; Caf? Ceramique; Reza?s Martial Arts Center; Rugby Football Club; World Beat Fitness Center.

Emma Stone Lights Up for Interview Magazine

Emma Stone is featured in the latest issue of Interview.

A very different Emma Stone, we should say.

The wildly popular actress - seriously, who didn't adore her in Easy A... or The Help... or Crazy, Stupid Love? - covers September's edition of this magazine and brings a futuristic, serious look to its pages. Also, a cigarette...

Emma Stone Interview CoverEmma Stone for Interview

Stone is actually interviewed by director Cameron Crowe for the piece and tells him that she's still a work in progress when it comes to this fame thing.

"I don't think that I've been deft at hiding parts of my personality," the actress says of giving print interviews. "I have not mentioned parts of my life, for sure - although I have talked about my childhood more now and anxiety and that side of myself. I don't think that people would expect that I would have panic attacks... Or I don't know if they would, because I don't know what people expect of me. I have no idea."

Stone also says fans may actually know someone like Taylor Swift because she "tells her own stories." But it's different for an actress.

"I'm playing characters, so that kind of authenticity of self in this job is a little bit different. A lot of times I feel like people come up to me because they think I'm like my character in Easy A, or because they've seen me in interviews, but really what they're a fan of is a movie or a character."

Pick up the latest issue of Interview for more. (P.S. We frickin LOVE Emma Stone!!!)

This Past Week's Workout Sessions #health #fitness

According to this past week's workout sessions, I'm averaging about 27 minutes of exercise per day, which isn't the greatest, but at least it's a start. (It's better with 30 minutes/day though.) However, I have to factor in a couple days of rest because I was sore from the flu shot and the fact that I didn't get as much sleep this past week (I was averaging 5-6 hours of sleep per night).

This is Week 4 of my workout plan. I'm happy that I'm sticking to some kind of a fitness plan everyday (see "Goals"). I have already lost about 3 lbs. and am breathing a whole lot better. I also noticed that I am gradually rebuilding my flexibility, endurance, and strength again. Yay!

From 8/19 to 8/26/2012 Workout Sessions:

Sunday, 8/19: 10 min. walk
Monday, 8/20: 10 min. weight training
Tuesday, 8/21: 54 min. yoga & weight training
Wednesday, 8/22: 10 min. walk
Thursday, 8/23: 15 min. walk
Friday, 8/24: 62 min. yoga
Saturday, 8/25: 10 min. walk
Sunday, 8/26: 50 min. yoga & weight training

Goals:
1. Lose 5 more lbs.
2. Worse case scenario: Spend at least 10 min. per day of vigorous exercise (no stopping, lots of sweating!). Otherwise, 30-50 minutes of moderate to vigorous levels of exercise.
3. Incorporate weight training, yoga, and cardio.
4. Allow one day of rest with slow/light yoga or leisure walking (10-15 minutes).

Customer Service and Outsourcing | Frederic Siegel Business

Most of the tasks being outsourced these days have a lot to do with customer service. While some doubt that it should be done, it is certainly one of the most outsourceable business processes, judging from the large number of call centers in existence.

There are people who think outsourcing such a service must not be done at all, and that they should remain in the realm of the company. Many people think it is unethical to have to hire outsiders to cater to the needs of your company, and most problems stemming from mis-communication between customers and the company arise from language and cultural barriers in call centers. Many customers may also feel a detachment from the company because they feel the customer service part, being outsourced, is a separate matter from the company they?re supposedly getting service from.

There are also people, however, that think that outsourcing this type of service is a great idea, and that it best utilizes the global talent that is out there.

Companies attest to the fact that these agents undergo training needed in order to serve customers the way they are supposed to. While difficulties of earlier outsourced customer service may have been common, advances in communication and prior knowledge of these problems have helped in providing service that the customers deserve. These representatives are trained rigorously to be able to address and attend to customer complaints and questions without fail. Things are seen to have been better since the inception of outsourced customer service.

Many people are still quick to criticize the money aspect of such, implying that it is only the money and reduced costs that fuel such a decision.

They are quick to forget improved services and many policies introduced that are all geared towards customer satisfaction. And certainly the fact that a company saves money by outsourcing would certainly mean more opportunities to direct that money towards greater improvements and services in terms of products and other things. As we speak, improvements are being made, and it is certain that more improvements are expected to come, all in the name of customer satisfaction

Refinancing mortgage for shorter term can bring huge savings ...

Refinancing into a lower rate and shorter term may not save any money immediately. But you could save a bundle in interest over the life of the mortgage.

Most people refinance to save money. That usually means jumping to a lower rate. But you also can save big bucks by trimming the term of your loan, possibly at the very same low rate.

LANCE ARMSTRONG QUITS: 7-Time Tour De ... - Business Insider

Lance Armstrong has decided not to fight doping charges brought against him by the US Anti-Doping Agency, the AP's Jim Vertuno reports.

This likely means that Armstrong will be banned for life from competitive cycling and will have his 7 Tour de France titles stripped. He will also likely lose a bronze medal he won at the 2000 Olympics.

After a judge threw out Armstrong's lawsuit against the USADA earlier this week, Armstrong had until today to decide whether to contest the USADA's charges before an arbitration panel.

He has chosen not to do that.

In keeping with the way he has approached the doping allegations from the beginning, Armstrong went down swinging.

He once again declared his innocence and bashed the USADA:

"There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now," Armstrong said in a statement sent to The Associated Press. He called the USADA investigation an "unconstitutional witch hunt."

"I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in winning my seven Tours since 1999," he said. "The toll this has taken on my family and my work for our foundation and on me leads me to where I am today - finished with this nonsense."

This also probably means that no one will ever hear the full story from Armstrong about what went on in cycling in the years in which he dominated the sport--as well as a full explanation of why he did or didn't do what almost everyone he rode with appears to have done.

Armstrong's attorney recently said that he was "certain to lose" in arbitration if he fought the charges. And one suspects that that assessment probably played a major role in his decision.

Regardless, it's a tragic end to one of the most inspiring sports stories in history.

Here's Armstrong's full statement:

Lance Armstong's Statement of August 23, 2012

AUSTIN, Texas - August 23rd, 2012 - There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in winning my seven Tours since 1999. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a two-year federal criminal investigation followed by Travis Tygart's unconstitutional witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for our foundation and on me leads me to where I am today ? finished with this nonsense.

I had hoped that a federal court would stop USADA's charade. Although the court was sympathetic to my concerns and recognized the many improprieties and deficiencies in USADA's motives, its conduct, and its process, the court ultimately decided that it could not intervene.

If I thought for one moment that by participating in USADA's process, I could confront these allegations in a fair setting and ? once and for all ? put these charges to rest, I would jump at the chance. But I refuse to participate in a process that is so one-sided and unfair. Regardless of what Travis Tygart says, there is zero physical evidence to support his outlandish and heinous claims. The only physical evidence here is the hundreds of controls I have passed with flying colors. I made myself available around the clock and around the world. In-competition. Out of competition. Blood. Urine. Whatever they asked for I provided. What is the point of all this testing if, in the end, USADA will not stand by it?

From the beginning, however, this investigation has not been about learning the truth or cleaning up cycling, but about punishing me at all costs. I am a retired cyclist, yet USADA has lodged charges over 17 years old despite its own 8-year limitation. As respected organizations such as UCI and USA Cycling have made clear, USADA lacks jurisdiction even to bring these charges. The international bodies governing cycling have ordered USADA to stop, have given notice that no one should participate in USADA's improper proceedings, and have made it clear the pronouncements by USADA that it has banned people for life or stripped them of their accomplishments are made without authority. And as many others, including USADA's own arbitrators, have found, there is nothing even remotely fair about its process. USADA has broken the law, turned its back on its own rules, and stiff-armed those who have tried to persuade USADA to honor its obligations. At every turn, USADA has played the role of a bully, threatening everyone in its way and challenging the good faith of anyone who questions its motives or its methods, all at U.S. taxpayers' expense. For the last two months, USADA has endlessly repeated the mantra that there should be a single set of rules, applicable to all, but they have arrogantly refused to practice what they preach. On top of all that, USADA has allegedly made deals with other riders that circumvent their own rules as long as they said I cheated. Many of those riders continue to race today.

The bottom line is I played by the rules that were put in place by the UCI, WADA and USADA when I raced. The idea that athletes can be convicted today without positive A and B samples, under the same rules and procedures that apply to athletes with positive tests, perverts the system and creates a process where any begrudged ex-teammate can open a USADA case out of spite or for personal gain or a cheating cyclist can cut a sweetheart deal for themselves. It's an unfair approach, applied selectively, in opposition to all the rules. It's just not right.

USADA cannot assert control of a professional international sport and attempt to strip my seven Tour de France titles. I know who won those seven Tours, my teammates know who won those seven Tours, and everyone I competed against knows who won those seven Tours. We all raced together. For three weeks over the same roads, the same mountains, and against all the weather and elements that we had to confront. There were no shortcuts, there was no special treatment. The same courses, the same rules. The toughest event in the world where the strongest man wins. Nobody can ever change that. Especially not Travis Tygart.

Today I turn the page. I will no longer address this issue, regardless of the circumstances. I will commit myself to the work I began before ever winning a single Tour de France title: serving people and families affected by cancer, especially those in underserved communities. This October, my Foundation will celebrate 15 years of service to cancer survivors and the milestone of raising nearly $500 million. We have a lot of work to do and I'm looking forward to an end to this pointless distraction. I have a responsibility to all those who have stepped forward to devote their time and energy to the cancer cause. I will not stop fighting for that mission. Going forward, I am going to devote myself to raising my five beautiful (and energetic) kids, fighting cancer, and attempting to be the fittest 40-year old on the planet.

Based in the liberal arts and drawing upon social scientific and humanistic traditions, our program focuses on the creation, structure, criticism and impact of messages. This course of study aims to increase awareness of the centrality of communication to identity, social order and democratic processes. In an era of rapidly altering media technologies and delivery systems, this program specifically emphasizes the role of the media in contemporary American culture. With a wide range of theoretical and applied courses, students are encouraged to work with their major adviser to develop a courses of study that best meets their individual goals and challenges them to consider the relationship between theory and practice. A degree in Media and Communication Studies prepares students for graduate work in media and communication studies, for careers in the communication and information industries as well as for leadership positions in business, law, politics, and education
